2020: Looking forward…

It’s a welcome return to work…

And we’re back! After a bit of a break it’s a welcome return to work and to be able to get started on more Community Ranger projects. I’ve been delighted to bump into so many people when out and about in the Marsh and Micklefield area who have been with me to volunteer in the past or want to join in with sessions this year and next.

I’ll be starting in the week following Movie Night and sessions will usually be on a Friday from 11.00 AM - 2.30 PM.

There will be a booking system through a ‘Doodle Poll’ and it is essential that attendees register in advance as numbers are being limited at the moment.

If you would like the opportunity to come along please send your email address to:

You will then be added to the Doodle Poll list. Booking will then be on a first come first served basis when the Poll is sent out.

The first 3 sessions are:

Friday 25th September

From 11.00 – 2.30

Join Community Ranger John for a walk through some of Gomm’s Wood to explore this wonderful local habitat and to review the Sculpture Trail and see where it can be changed or improved and to come up with ideas for sculptures and where they could go.

Meet at ‘Cinema Field’ Entrance above Ash Hill School, HP13 7HT

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring lunch and drinks as required.

Saturday 3rd October

I will be helping at a ‘Chalk, Cherries and Chairs’ Festival event at Gomm’s Bank for a session of coppicing, glade creation and sculpture making.

Meet at Cock Lane Cemetery Carpark (HP10 8DS) at 10.00 A.M. or join us on site (just off Herbert Road Service Road) shortly afterwards.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring lunch and drinks as required

Friday 9th October

A river walk at Kingsmead from 11.00 – 2.30. Meet at the Chiltern Rangers Depot and get into waders for a session in the River. We will just spend some time experiencing this rare and precious habitat close-up and take the opportunity to do a bit of litter clearance to help look after our local environment.

Meet at the Depot (60 Fennels Road, HP11 1SL) at 11.00 but please note there will be no parking in the Depot itself.

Waders, lifejackets and river gloves provided but you may want to bring a spare pair of socks! Note that this will not be an event suitable for young children.

Bring lunch and drinks as required
