The Wright’s Meadow Centre mini-copse has just received its Spring brushcut. The areas round the trees were cut and raked and broad swathes cut through the grass and nettles. A wide margin of nettles was, however, left as they support about 60 species of insect including many butterflies. The margin is full of plants bursting into life including Mallows, Cranesbills and Mugwort. We have also left a few Docks as they benefit several species, including the rather lovely Dock Bug.
